There are times when we feel happy, carefree, fulfilled, and strong. Times when our life is bright and full of opportunities and joyful moments. Times when we think we can climb even the highest mountain because we feel strong and determined.
And then, it happens. You feel like everything is falling apart. Things begin to get out of your control. All kinds of worries and problems begin to darken your spirit.
You feel lost, confused, and lonely. You have the feeling like you’re trapped in a long dark tunnel and you’re wondering what’s on the other side.
Well, this is exactly how a felt a couple of years ago. Luckily, there was light at the end of my tunnel – I had you. My friends. My real friends.
When I thought that no one could understand how I felt and what I was going through, you showed me I was wrong. You knew all that.
I went through a tough time. I kept my problems within myself. I stopped believing in me. But, you never stopped having faith in me. You didn’t see me as weak, but strong. Strong for withholding my emotions, keeping my problems to myself, and fighting my own demons for so long without saying a word about it.
When I was at my lowest, most of the people I held dear disappeared on me. But, you never left me. You stood by my side and for that, I’ll be always grateful to you.
I was at my lowest and you held me up and encouraged me to look to the highest. You told me not to give up
You know, it’s easy when you’re at the top because everyone is available for you. But when you hit rock bottom, they just abandon you. And then, you get to see people’s true colors. But most importantly, I saw who my real friends were. You stayed there for me and helped me get right back up.
You made me feel loved when most didn’t even care about me. You saw the good in me even when I couldn’t see it myself. You tried to make me see my worth. You tried to remind me of my strength and courage.
My mind was often racing with thoughts of failure. I felt insecure, demoralized, and afraid to make a change that would make me feel better about myself. But, you never stopped reminding me how smart and capable I was. You wanted me to see my strength, and for that, I’ll be always grateful to you.
When I felt heavy and stuck in my world full of problems and worries, you helped me gather the strength to move on. You made me laugh even when I thought all hopes were lost.
You accepted me for who I was and I know I often wasn’t the friend you deserved to have.
I would often disappear without letting you know where I was, but you never held it against me. You knew I needed some time to be alone. You knew how I felt, and how grateful I’m to you for that I’ll never be able to describe.
You unselfishly did all that because you loved me unconditionally.
Thank you for all those times you were there for me.
Thank you for always being honest and telling me the truth – the truth that I didn’t value and was too harsh on myself.
I’m grateful to you for having understanding and compassion for my issues and pain.
Thank you for reminding me how strong I am and that I have what it takes to make myself happy.
I appreciate that you put up with me when I was stubborn and ignored you.
Thank you for helping me to accept myself. You made me feel worthy and alive again.
Thank you for loving me even when I couldn’t love myself. Thank you for staying by my side even when I couldn’t find anything worth fighting for.
Thank you for being a part of my life.
