Whether your generation is all about “Double Dare” slime or you have kids that like to make their own, there’s no doubt about it — slime is here to stay. (No matter how much parents may hate it).
Following a shortage of Elmer’s glue last year thanks to the slime-making craze, the company has decided to jump on the sticky, stretchy bandwagon and take slime-making where it has never gone before.
The company has officially launched its first-ever Ooey Gluey Slime Games, a competition for kids, teens and tweens all over the country to see who can create the most innovative and creative slime video recipes — all for a chance to win some pretty awesome prizes!
There will be three rounds of competition with six different slime-making categories. Contestants simply create and submit their recipes for the categories on the dates below. They can also make as many as they’d like!
Here are the dates and categories to keep in mind:
- Submission 1 (July 9 to July 22): Brightest Slime and Coolest Textured Slime
- Submission 2 (August 6 to August 19): Most Unique Slime Art and Biggest Slime Bubble
- Submission 3 (September 3 to September 16): Craziest Color-Combo Slime and Grossest Slime
“The slime trend took social media by storm and continues to grow as kids seek fun new ways to express their creativity with Elmer’s,” Victor Misawa, senior vice president of marketing and writing for Newell Brands said in a press release. “The Ooey Gluey Slime Games were designed to inspire people to show off their unique slime creations with our products. This is also an opportunity for kids to become famous for their slime-making skills.”
If you need a little help getting started on your kid’s award-winning slime creation, we’ve rounded up some great DIY recipes to try.
Each category in the contest will crown a first, second and third place winner, and the six first-place contestants will then be in the running to be the Slime Games Champion. Prizes include cash, a year’s supply of Elmer’s glue, a video production kit for future YouTube videos and the opportunity to collaborate on a video with popular slime/DIY influencer and Elmer’s Slime Games judge, Nichole Jacklyne.
