I don’t think I truly fell in love with athletics until Usain Bolt came along. Once the charismatic Jamaican sprinter burst onto the scene, everything that had gone before paled in comparison. Track and field had always been good to watch, but it’s the drama that Bolt brought to the sport that made it so brilliant.
It’s not often that you get these golden Bolt-esque moments in sport, but a 4x400m race in Ireland has managed to get pretty close. Handing over for the final leg of the women’s 4x400m relay at the Irish Universities Athletics Association (IUAA) Championships on Sunday, the race looked to be over.
